Wellesley imposes one-day-per-week watering limit as drought hits Level 1
WELLESLEY — The Board of Public Works has imposed mandatory one-day-per-week outdoor watering restrictions after the town moved to Level 1 drought conditions, the most consequential local development heading into the weekend.
TOWN HALL
The town's News Flash on Friday announced that drought conditions in Wellesley have reached Level 1, triggering mandatory outdoor watering restrictions of one day per week. The Board of Public Works is asking residents to comply with the limits to help conserve the local water supply heading into the summer irrigation season. Details on the rules and enforcement are posted on the town's civic alerts page.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Hills Branch of the Wellesley Free Library closes Monday, June 1, for a renovation project, with the branch expected to reopen in fall 2026. Patrons who typically use Hills for holds, browsing or programs will need to shift to the Main Library or Fells Branch during the closure. The library is also promoting the "Grand Opening of the Terrace" and a "50 Hikes Through History" feature on its homepage.
SCHOOLS
Wellesley Public Schools continues to take Fall 2026 K-12 registrations, with the district urging families of incoming kindergartners — children who turn 5 by Aug. 31, 2026 — to register as soon as possible. The district is also pointing families to its 2024-25 District Progress Report, which tracks the strategic plan and includes MCAS, SAT and AP comparisons.
