Council on Aging launches drafting of formal art-display policy
WELLESLEY — April 16, 2026 — Wellesley Council on Aging moves to formalize an art-display policy by late May. The board voted unanimously to seat a nominating subcommittee (Peter Grape, chair; Tina Wong; Corinne Monaghan), a new-member interview subcommittee, and to name Grape as liaison to the Friends of the Wellesley COA. Volunteer art coordinator Mark Maiden told the board the program, open to Wellesley residents 60-plus, is "specifically designed not to be a sales opportunity" and rotates roughly every six months. Monaghan and Wong will draft policy language with Maiden, targeting Select Board delivery by end of May to meet a June deadline. The board also accepted $3,239.24 in March gifts — including $1,499 from the Friends for lunch subsidies and $985 from the Elmira Simons Fund — plus a donated sewing machine. Incoming Executive Director Sahar starts May 11.
