WELLESLEY — April 15, 2026 — Wellesley Historical Commission votes 4-0 with one abstention to preferably preserve 38 Calvin Road. Vice Chair Alexander Gavis moved the determination on the architectural prong of the town's demolition review bylaw, citing the 1922 colonial revival's design by Boston architect Frederick H. Gowing; member Elizabeth Cahill seconded, with Chair Michael Racette and member Michael Greco also in favor and Secretary Larry McNally abstaining after joining the hearing late. Preservation Planner Kimberly De Muro told the commission the home closely matches Gowing's published pattern No. 2107. Direct abutter Terry Ramos of 40 Calvin Road warned of a "systemic erosion of a historic neighborhood," citing recent reviews at 32 Kingsbury, 62 Donizetti and 63 Donizetti. Attorney David Himmelberger, representing the applicant, did not contest the architectural finding.
